Victory

Popsey always says ‘V’ for victory while spelling his name. Heehee.. his name starts with ‘V’ and so does my initial. :D Winning is great and that too against all odds is a superlative feeling! An acrostic on that:

Come up trumps

Criticism taken
Overhauling carefully
Measured steps
Efforts matter

Unabated enthusiasm
Playing tactfully

Trigger set
Rising tension
Utter disbelief
Magnificent victory
Promptly sealed
Surprising all

Progress

Hits and misses are part of life! Everybody goes through a learning curve. Each experience leaves us with some knowledge we have to use it and apply it. That’s all! :)

Has been

Here we go
Administering our faults
Sighing, wishing, repenting

Being is living
Ever been there
Errors do happen

Mystery of destiny
Even as I
Long to strive
All comes to
Nothing fruitful ever
Consumed I’m left
Hope has gone
Out of sight
Letting darkness alone
Yield shall I?

G'bye

Sometimes it’s hard to say goodbyes but then it is necessary too at times! A little trivia: Goodbye is short for – “God be with you”. When people used to take leave the host would say – Have a safe journey. God be with you!  :)

Here is an acrostic Haiku!

A social obligation - matrimony

A social obligation of matrimony & choosing the right groom

Why is it so important to get married within the time window of twenties?! I have received umpteen advices on how to choose the right groom. How is it a choice when marriage in itself is arranged?!

So based on one single photo I have to decide whether I want to spend my whole life with a person or not! Incredible!! But believe me it is the truth, even in the twenty first century. I have to choose or rather say “yes” to a guy from our community. As per the community rule book girls should be married as early as possible. And I seem to be on the edge of crossing this age-limit. The pressure is on my father too from all sides:  Relatives, brothers, his mother and mother-in-law when they were alive, and every other Ramasamy, Subbaiah and pangalis! This seems all the more ridiculous ’cause they in actual don’t give a damn about how I’m going to be post-marriage, or how my life is going to be.. in short, neither do they care nor are they concerned. They’re just sadists who like to upset others with unsettling remarks and cruel comments.

The qualities and character of the person whom you are going to marry is the deciding criteria, so my aunt tells me. The looks or anything else would not matter in the long run. Hmm.. first I have to like in the short run na?! Then only I’ll step forward and say I want to be with him for the rest of my life!! One of our family friend, she says that the thing you have to look out for is, whether that guy will take care of you thereafter. But how do I find out? :( She pointed out that if you go for a person for looks alone, there is trouble! Coz many might like him for looks and again you cannot ascertain his character just by seeing him once in person or by asking his parents how their son is. Therefore she too is for qualities.

My sis says the complexion, beauty, hair, all would fade with time so just go for a person believing that he is good based on his credentials and income. Well if he turns out bad are you gonna support me, my darling sis?? All my uncles want to know what am I waiting for - Prince charming? “Why don’t you say yes to one rishta?! Why don’t you agree?  What’s wrong with every guy?? At this rate you will never get married! Not in this lifetime!!”  Yeah, thanks! One uncle went a little too far by saying you should go to Bombay and try for Shahrukh, Salman or Amir Khan instead of our community boys. Well, I am not interested in married men, mama! :P

My uncles from paternal side give me instances of people - who married someone who was average looking, shorter than the bride, bald, or much much older than the girl – still they are all very happy today and at a good position in their lives. Hmm.. good for them but I cannot imagine marrying someone I do not like. Period.

Another uncle told me to see two sides – one is changeable another unchangeable aspects of the groom. That is, height, appearance, hairline cannot be changed while qualities (according to him), style and habits can be changed. So select a person based on this facet. My cousin said, don’t look for too many things, keep it simple. Just see if he is well educated and in a good job. Another cuz said arrey this is the time to get married! If you get married when you’re forty, you wouldn’t even be able to walk. So get married when you are young, go places and enjoy life!

One of my grandmas said, you have to trust your parents and go ahead. Trust that they will choose a good boy for you, that the in-laws will treat you nicely. Another granny said marriage and all is already decided, there will be someone for you, or perhaps you don’t have a marriage in your horoscope. Whoa! Granny don’t jump to conclusions! Ek chance toh dede meri dadi-jaan phir udaan dekhnaaaa….. lol… :P :) yet another granny asks me when am I going to invite her for the wedding feast! I really don’t know.

A grandpa tells me that it’d be good for everyone if I get married at the right time. Ask your uncles to help find you a good groom or your aunt. Finally if no one comes up with good rishtas, go in search yourself! There is nothing wrong in looking for a life partner. Your parents are getting old, you should be settled so that if it so happens that they need your support, you’d be in a position to help them too.

My own father in rage and exasperation has said that, keep in mind you yourself are not an Aishwarya Rai to reject so many boys! Yes, father I very well know that. But somewhere I feel that I deserve a little better (groom) than the ones you have shown me and compelled me to marry. I don’t know if I’m wrong or right. I believe God shall show me the way. I hope.
Friends tease/ask when I am going to get married, so that they can come and meet me. Yeah right! All these years you couldn’t come and meet me but just so that you can come and have fun I have to get married?! Kya zamaana aa gaya hai!! :P :D But sadly, when I do like someone they don’t like me! :( :(( yaara main kya karun.. Some nice people have asked me to pray. Pray that I get a good husband and a good life. Hmm.. I hope my prayers are answered.

Well, so many people have said so many things. And I am under intense pressure to get hitched. Yet I haven’t made up my mind. I’m still undecided. I’m still looking for the one.

Rationale

There is a rationale behind every action. Well, almost. Every now and then we do tend to do crazy stuff just for fuN!! :D Otherwise, there’s method in my madness! Heehee.. yes this is the line from Shakespeare’s play!

All our ideas, thinking are based on some logic. A poem:

Old

When one becomes old one has seen life’s ups and downs. They become more mature and less materialistic. More or less people tend to turn towards spirituality much later in life. When they are young all they think about is worldly pleasures, joys and acquiring wealth to lead a luxurious life. Of course there is nothing wrong in it! :)

I guess it is natural that when we have exhausted all the possibilities we turn towards Self! We are so caught up in the everyday struggle of existence that we never had time to think about one’s genesis. As a result, our attention turns to spiritualism when we get old.

Adieu

Sometimes we have to bid adieu and move forward in life, whether we like it or lump it. The love and longing, pain of unreciprocated love, one-sided love is a phase some have to face. You should not let it consume you. One has to move on, go on! Probably someone better is waiting for you on the other side of this difficult stage. :)

Apart

All I’m left with is a worn collage
Please let me be your entourage
Apple of my eye
Rather I would die
Turnaround for the lingering mirage

Dance Robert dance!

Coz I love it when you dance! :)

Robert Roldan, one of the finalists of “So You Think You Can DanceSeason: 7” is my favourite. ♥ :D You know since I’m pretty jobless am always in front of the TV. While channel surfing I discovered him.  When I like someone – this happens with me – I’m always around when they are there. So whenever Robert was dancing I accidentally used to tune in. Well he danced so well and I liked him so much and another reason would be I loved the hostess Cat Deeley too, so I started watching it regularly. Only to discover that there were only 6 people left on board.

But hey, that meant Robert had a good chance of winning. Still I didn’t know the show’s timings. So whenever this show was on TV while I watched, I watched. :-) So the next time only four contestants were left – Adéchiké, Kent, Lauren and Robert. I really adore Cat’s British accent. She is cute, tall and very witty.

Yes so on Friday it was the elimination day. Only three contestants would compete in the finals for the Title. The unlucky one who was to be out was Adechike. The other three entered the finals on Monday. After the show, America would vote to choose their best dancer of the Season 7: So you think you can Dance.  Subsequently the three dancers competed on the stage for the very last time. They were all very good. Judges were on love-fest, showering their love and compliments on all three of them. Nigel congratulated all three of them for working so hard to reach where they were that day. Another judge (Adam) said – they came as kids and now they had become mature artists and seasoned professionals.

It was really cool – the finals. They were all power-packed performances. The final dance routine was a Malevos dance by Robert and Kent. It was great to see them. I love Robert :D and wanted him to win.

Tuesday was the Grand Finale. The opening dance by the contestants (the final 12 or so) was rocking. Cat looked beautiful in her lovely dress. More judges had joined our usual trio. Their favourite routines of the season were performed by the contestants. And then the moment came when the three finalists were called on stage. Now Cat was going to announce the second runner up, third of the three, who has got the lowest votes. Sadly, the name she called out was Robert. He took it well; actually, he flashed his brilliant smile and walked towards Cat Deeley. She told him he had done well and sparkled on the show. Then as Robert recollected his journey he was a little emotional. He thanked everyone and said that he felt blessed.

Soon after he came and performed a banging Bollywood number with an all-star artist. Kent and Lauren’s performances followed. Then a little boy performed tap-dance, wonderfully. Next tap-dance was by two brothers. Finally as promised by Cat, there was an electrifying act indeed, by a dancing superstar Ellen Degeneres.

After that it was time to announce Season 7’s winner – who America had selected as the best dancer. It was not much of a surprise to me when Cat announced Lauren as the winner. Lauren was exhilarated and she went bonkers with joy.

Hmm.. so for love of Rob I started watching this dance show. I discovered dancing can be so magical. I was really amazed by their talented dancing. I had a great time watching Robert’s dance routines. He made it to the finals but the Prize of $ 250,000 evaded him. Yet he has excelled and improved a lot so they say. He’d be touring with the other 6 contestants to various cities in America.

Love you Robert!! Wishing you all the best for your career and life. Achieve great heights and shine on. ;) :)
