Enjoying Acrostics

It is beautiful to see how an acrostic poem takes its course with certain restrictions and liberties while keeping its focus on the tacit message as well. I find it thoroughly amazing, both reading and writing. It is quite a feat to come up with an elegant poem! I have been trying to do that, lately. It has kept me fairly busy. Here are the results!!  ;)

Positive

Persuading ourselves
Outdoing opponents
Springing back
Inhibiting fears
Trying incessantly
Initiating invariably
Vying joyfully
Every time

I don’t know if I have captured the essence of this phrase (kiss and tell) in my poem but trust me I have tried although the meaning makes me a little uncomfortable. :)

Kiss and tell

Knitting fantasies
In bed
Stop it
Seductive woman

Aroused senses
Need you
Disrupting work

Trip not
Elect silence
Limelight is
Lethal now

Different styles of Poetry

Well I’m all excited about participating in this acrostic poetry competition!! For the benefit of those who don’t know what an acrostic poem is, here is an explanation!

Acrostic n. (uh-kroh-stic) A poem or series of lines in which certain letters, usually the first in each line, form a name, motto, or message when read in sequence.

I’m new to this style of poetry or should I say I didn’t know about this style till last December! Since then I have tried my hand at it and now I present (heehe.. ) my acrostic!

Bless you

Between survival struggles
Look for that
Enigmatic notion named
Spiritual quest to
Seek self enlightenment

Yielding ultimate truth
One reaches after
Unrelenting intricate pursuit

Haiku is yet another style of writing. A definition:

Haiku n.  A Japanese verse form that has three unrhymed lines of  5, 7, and 5 syllables on a subject of nature.

I have heard about it. Long time back someone in my family was discussing, saying that it is a short poetry, succinct and in the trend, then. I dont know about the trends but sure do hope mine makes a little sense! Heehee…

Ebb

Eventually perceptions change
Brilliant waves inadvertently fall
Brittle virtues adorn youth

Life's an enigma

Life! It's beautiful, surprising and shocking at times, confusing and tiresome at other, it is truly an enigma! Here is my little attempt at a poetry on it!

Essence of life

Life is strange, at times it seems to be a paradise and sometimes
you wonder, whether hell would be worser or better?!
Life rocks and friends make it special!
Every moment is precious, don’t take things for granted
'cause you never know what is coming next!!
Variety makes life interesting, but loyalty is the pillar on which it stands!
Simple things make life beautiful!
Enjoy it, live it, celebrate it!!!

Hope you enjoy it!! Until next time, cheers! n a happy weekend!! :)
